Jeevan Pramaan (Digital Life Certificate)

Jeevan Pramaan lets pensioners submit their mandatory annual life certificate digitally, using Aadhaar-based biometric authentication, instead of visiting a bank branch or pension office in person. Once generated, the digital certificate is automatically shared with the pensioner's pension disbursing agency, so continued pension payment doesn't depend on a physical visit each year.

Eligibility

  • • Any pensioner — Central Government, State Government, or a covered PSU/organisation — whose pension disbursing agency accepts Jeevan Pramaan
  • • Aadhaar must be seeded with the pension account for authentication to work

Step-by-step guide

  1. 1

Check with your pension disbursing bank or department that Jeevan Pramaan is accepted for your pension account.

  2. 2

Download the Jeevan Pramaan desktop application or mobile app from jeevanpramaan.gov.in, or visit a Common Service Centre (CSC)/bank branch with a biometric device.

  3. 3

Enter your Aadhaar number, pension account details and PPO number.

  4. 4

Complete Aadhaar authentication using a fingerprint or iris scan on the connected biometric device.

  5. 5

On successful authentication, a Digital Life Certificate ID is generated and made available to your pension disbursing agency automatically — no physical submission is needed.

Official fees

The Digital Life Certificate is generated instantly once biometric authentication succeeds.

Frequently asked questions

Not if Jeevan Pramaan is accepted by your pension disbursing agency — you can complete Aadhaar biometric authentication from home with a compatible device, at a CSC, or at a bank branch that has one, and it's submitted digitally.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • • Waiting until close to the deadline to attempt biometric authentication, leaving no time to resolve a failed match
  • • Not confirming Aadhaar is actually seeded with the pension account before attempting authentication
  • • Assuming every bank/department accepts Jeevan Pramaan without checking first
