PM Vishwakarma Yojana

PM Vishwakarma is a Central scheme for traditional artisans and craftspeople — carpenters, blacksmiths, goldsmiths, potters, cobblers, tailors and 16 other trades — offering recognition via a PM Vishwakarma certificate and ID card, basic and advanced skill training with a daily stipend, a toolkit incentive to buy modern equipment, and collateral-free loans in two tranches to grow the business, along with support for digital transactions and marketing.

Step-by-step guide

Register at the official portal (pmvishwakarma.gov.in) through a Common Service Centre (CSC) with Aadhaar-based biometric verification, or check eligibility online first.

  2. 2

Get verified at the Gram Panchayat/ULB level, followed by a district-level implementation committee screening.

  3. 3

Once approved, receive your PM Vishwakarma certificate and ID card.

  4. 4

Complete the mandatory basic skill training (5-7 days) — a stipend of ₹500/day is paid during training.

  5. 5

Frequently asked questions

18 specified traditional trades — including carpenters, boat makers, blacksmiths, goldsmiths, potters, cobblers, masons, tailors, toy makers and garland makers among others. Check the official portal's full trade list to confirm your specific occupation qualifies.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • • Registering under a trade you don't actually practice, which fails verification
  • • Skipping the mandatory skill training and expecting direct loan access
  • • Not completing Gram Panchayat/ULB-level verification, which stalls certificate issuance
