Duplicate Driving Licence

If your driving licence is lost, stolen, or damaged, you can apply for a duplicate through the Parivahan portal. This replaces the physical/digital card without changing your existing DL number or its validity period.

Frequently asked questions

Many states ask for a police complaint or an affidavit of loss; requirements vary, so check your state's specific process on the portal.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • • Delaying the police complaint or affidavit after noticing the loss
  • • Applying for renewal instead of a duplicate DL by mistake
  • • Not keeping a copy of the application acknowledgment while awaiting the duplicate
  • • Providing an address that doesn't match existing RTO records
